"Letters to Sandra," by Virgílio Ferreira, has been my bedside book since adolescence. I started writing early on to friends and family whom I only saw again in the summer, in the Algarve. During school holidays I wrote to classmates who lived further away; it was a moment just for us, where we talked through letters and postcards.
The stationery was chosen carefully, and I loved collecting the stamps.
I've lost count of the love letters I've written.
I dedicated myself to journalism for over two decades and created the personalized books ShortStories, which has since become a publishing house. I never stopped writing. Letters have long inhabited my notebooks of ideas, and the time has come to circulate them and get them to the recipient. Each month I will write to you about a theme, a special date, a tradition. No fixed day, because I want to rekindle the excitement of waiting for the mail, and we all know it's always late...
